So, what exactly is a Skinny shot, and how does it work?
According to the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM, 2019):
Skinny Shots are lipotropic injections. To break down the word lipotropic is derived from two words: Lipo, meaning fat, and tropic, which comes from the Greek word Tropē, which means to turn or turning. By definition, a Lipotropic injection turns fat. They work on your body’s fat metabolism by decreasing fat deposits from your liver.
Skinny Shots have a combination of lipotropic agents, vitamins, and amino acids, and they typically include a “MIC Complex,” which is the combination of Methionine, Inositol, and Choline.
- L-methionine is an anti-inflammatory amino acid that helps the body process fat and eliminate toxins.
- Inositol helps the liver break down fats and works with choline to aid in fat metabolism.
- Choline helps regulate the kidneys, liver, and gallbladder and is essential for fat metabolism. Choline also helps with detox.
